Random Thoughts of a News and Sports Junkie: SUPER BOWL LVI

Super Bowl:  Funny story.  I turned on the game at 4:15 knowing the kickoff was about 15 minutes away and paused the DVR so I could get some food ready.  By the time I finished up in the kitchen and sat down with my drink and food it was about 4:50pm.  Just as President Bush was flipping the coin, my darling 3 year old daughter sat on the remote and changed the channel.  If you have a DVR, you know what happens. Everything I recorded was gone, and I was back to real time.  So I missed the 1st quarter of the game.  At least my chili dip was good.

Super Bowl Commercials:  Honestly, I watch the commercials.  My wife and kids usually make up our own little game where we make little prop bets on the game.  Who scores first…MVP…1st person to score… We make commercials part of the game too, so we pay attention to the commercials.  It’s fun when you have kids and you want them to watch the game with you, and they really don’t know much yet about the actual game. I don’t have a favorite commercial, but I wish they did not get political.

Lady Gaga:  Not a huge fan, but I’ll admit, she is a heck of an entertainer.  When are they going to put Foo Fighters on the halftime show?  This needs to happen!

Patriots Win:  As an Oakland Raiders fan who is still bitter about the “Tuck Rule,” it’s hard to say anything positive about the Pats.  I won’t call Tom Brady the greatest, but I’ll probably never see a better comeback in a Championship game.  That was an amazing game.

Falcons Lose:  Choke. Job.  Good luck with Kyle Shanahan 49ers fans.  At least his old man, Mike won’t be joining him.  On a positive note, Dan Quinn is a really good coach and that should serve the Falcons well for years.
