Local Woman Pleads Guilty to Insurance Fraud

A woman from Ada County will be serving jail time for insurance fraud.

Ashley Monroe allegedly pawned a diamond engagement ring, but told her insurance company that she had dropped it in a storm drain.

The Idaho Statesman reports, the insurance company paid Monroe almost $3,000 for the ring before it was discovered she had pawned it.

Monroe pleaded guilty to one count of insurance fraud and was sentenced to serve jail time and pay a fine.
