The Pioneer Fire continues to grow, and the heat coupled with winds are not helping suppression efforts.
The fire jumped highway 21 again near Lamar Creek forcing crews to abandon their lines and drop back to an existing contingency line.
Aviation resources flew throughout the day Sunday —with the exception of the 45-minute delay caused by a drone incursion.
Firefighters say – as of Sunday evening – the Pioneer fire has burned nearly 30,000 acres and is just 27% contained.
A Type 1 Incident Management team is in control of fire operations, and will be for at least the next 10 days.
There are now 1,300 firefighters working the Pioneer fire.
