Random Thoughts of a News and Sports Junkie: June Edition

I recently had a person tell me how “down in the dumps” they feel after hearing the news.  In light of recent events in Orlando, it’s hard to disagree.  I think it’s also important to tell people who feel that way, the news a just tool to get you information.  It’s up to you how you react to it.  As a person exposed to every story in the media, I can tell you, it’s really important to be positive and find silver linings in all things.

Fathers Day is this Sunday.  There have been some very important people in helping me to become the person I am today, but I can’t think of a person who played a bigger role.  My “Old Man” is honest, strong and loving.  Somehow I think of him as a tough guy, despite the fact he has always shown great kindness and compassion.  Thanks, Old Man, and Happy Fathers Day.

Does anybody else wonder what in the world Mother Nature is doing by smacking us around with a temperature like 102, then dropping rain and 68 a few days later?  I mean it snowed at Bogus this week!

Football can’t start soon enough.  Yes, my baseball team is in dead last in the division.  What’s your point?

My son and I sampled the Frisbee Golf Course at the Julius M. Kleiner Memorial Park last week.  We will be back.  The little guy nearly burned me on a hole in one!

One of the biggest jerks baseball has ever seen is Pete Rose. (in my humble opinion)  I have never been a big fan of his, but I have his back today.  Ichiro IS NOT the all time hit king.  I have friends in the MLB who say a player in Japan might see a pitcher of MLB caliber every couple of games.  Certainly not every single guy that takes the bump like what Rose saw day in and day out.  This was a silly debate to begin with…  Please Note: Ichiro will probably get into the MLB Hall of Fame, so Pete Rose can put that in his pipe and smoke it.

ESPN has already opened it’s 2016 Mock Draft Lobby:  Nerds.
