Powerball Frenzy

Yes, I bought a couple of Powerball Tickets for the 1.5 Billion Dollar drawing on Wednesday, January 13th.

I went into the process fully aware my chances of winning were very small, but you can’t win if you don’t play.  Right?  Winning would have been incredible, but I figured what I was really buying was a ticket to discuss what my wife and kids were dreaming about.  So after I spent my 10 bucks on Powerball, I made a point to ask at the dinner table what each of them wanted to do with some of the money, if we won.

My soon to be driving 14 year old son said I would need to buy him a Bugatti as his first car.  I had no idea what that was, so I looked it up on my phone while we talked about it.  (photo attached)  I explained, once he graduated from college (with a degree) I would be happy to see that he got one.  I don’t think he liked that answer.

My youngest son is all about food, and says we would have to hire a chef to handle his meals, and we would have bacon available at all times.  There were several other smaller requests, such as having his own room.  I agreed to his proposal, especially the bacon part.

As for my wife and I, we had a nice talk about where we would be vacationing first.  We did not settle on a specific spot, but decided it would need to be tropical and secluded, but I like this spot. (photo attached)  There is now a list of places we want to see, and that is something we did not have before.  A bucket list now, I guess.

What would I do with all that money?  I have some ideas that are predictable: pay off all my debt and mortgage, make sure my parents, family and a select group of friends are taken care of financially, and not get up for work at 2am ever again.  After that, I had a pretty hard time deciding what else I wanted to do with the money… I mean REALLY wanted outside of, eat better, dress nicer, and live more comfortable.  I guess that’s when I started to understand how blessed I am.  I mean everyone would love to be financially secure, but it can’t buy you everything.

Predictably, I did not did cash in on even a small portion of the Powerball Jackpot, but I did get something good out of that 10 bucks I spent.

Wait… How much would it cost to buy the Oakland Raiders?   Nevermind.
