President Barack Obama will today sign legislation creating three new wilderness areas in Idaho.
The White House says it is the strongest level of protection that can be given to public land.
The designation the Boulder-White Clouds comes after years of being pushed by Rep. Mike Simpson, who is expected to attend the bill signing at the White House.
The Idaho Statesman says Simpson earlier this month called passage of the bill a “huge victory for Idahoans.”
President Obama is scheduled to sign the measure at 11:55 a.m. in the Oval Office.
