Boise Man Steps Up To Help Homeless In Idaho During Hot Weather

The homeless in Idaho are suffering as temperatures creep into the triple digits. Kevin Quinn of Boise says that’s why has started delivering water bottles, ice, and snacks to them.

Quinn tells 670 KBOI’s Nate Shelman how it all started, “last Friday I was just sitting there talking with my kid telling him how hot it’s going to be this weekend. He kinda corrected me on complaining about the heat, said you’re not living in it.”

Quinn started delivering apples and water to the homeless on Saturday. He says he stopped by shelters and parks and many people were thrilled to get the help. Quinn ran out of food and water on Sunday and some of his friends had to come drop off more. Then another problem came up? Quinn says most people don’t teeth, so some couldn’t eat the apples. Quinn soon added bananas to the mix. He also added Gatorade. Quinn says he has spent about $150 dollars a day (of his own money) on the food and drinks for people.

That’s why he set up a GoFundMe Page to get help. Quinn’s goal on the page was $1,000 dollars, but as of Wednesday morning, he has earned almost $3,000 dollars. Quinn says all of the money donated will go to helping the homeless.

Quinn says he has received calls from shelters too, wanting help. He says he plans to add more items to give out to the homeless, that includes, sunscreen, sunglasses, hats, and more.
