4th of July – Idaho Is Better Than California

Never in my life have I ever seen as many fireworks as I do here in Boise on the 4th of July. I LOVE IT!!

You need to understand, I grew up in a miserable Communist State Regime (California) where you can’t get those fireworks you can here in Idaho. You know the ones I’m talking about…. The ones you are not supposed to buy, but nobody cares that you really buy them. If you had “those fireworks” in California, they would lock you away in Folsom Prison. Fire danger so extreme in parts of Nor-Cal, some years they even ban the “Safe and Sane” fireworks you see charity orginizations sell in shopping mall parking lots. Not even a sparklers are legal some years!

Watching a fireworks show in California means the following…

A: Driving to a big city that can afford a free fireworks show. (Sacramento/San Francisco) They really can’t afford them, but do it anyway.

B: Spending all day and night in traffic.      OK – got me again. That’s eveyday in California.

and C: Wondering why a 15 min fireworks program was worth you going thru all the trouble in the first place.

It was not always like that.  Way back in the day, even my home town had a good fireworks show every year.  It was a good show in my estimation, right up until I saw what was going on here in Boise.  All the other Independance Day festivities I’ve seen really pale in comparison. The show around town is so good, my Dad was angry last year when he came to visit because the fireworks kept him awake until midnight. Music to my ears.  This year, my family and I will sit on our porch and watch the big show, followed by about 2 strait hours of people around us firing off they’re own personal arsenal of overhead exploders.

By the way – New Years Eve firework here in the Treasure Valley – also pretty cool.  However, I must admit, it was too cold for me to sit outside to watch fireworks to ring in 2015. Hearing them until 1 or 2 was good enough for me.

Happy 4th of July. Celebrate your Independace all you like.  I enjoy watching the show!
