An Ada County Sheriff’ deputy’s patrol car is a total loss after he crashed into a cow.
The sheriff’s office says the deputy was driving on Lake Hazel Road at about 2 a.m. Monday when a cow walked in the middle of the road. The cow hit the front bumper, went over the hood, broke the windshield, flipped over the roof and shattered the back windshield.
The sheriff’s office says Boise Police has forwarded an investigation to the prosecutor’s office for a possible citation to the owner of the cow as the area is not open range.
If the cow’s owner is found liable, Ada County will seek financial restitution for the vehicle, according to the sheriff’s office.
