The Mountain West Conference is already looking like a long shot to make the top echelon bowl game for the group of fiver non-power conferences. The league is sorely lacking for signature wins this season. Boise State is 3-1 with their lone loss coming to tenth ranked Ole Miss. They are 3-1 on the season and 1-0 in conference play. The Broncos are currently tied with Wyoming in the Mountain division. No team in the West Division has played a conference game yet, and only Nevada has less than two losses. It would appear that Boise State is the only team in the league with a decent shot at the playoffs, but the Broncos would need some help.
East Carolina is the front runner at this time with a number 23 ranking, and a signature win. Marshall would probably be next, followed by Cincinnati and then the Broncos. The Sun Belt and the MAC appear to have already played themselves out of it.
BSU will have to play extremely well the rest of the way, including a win over BYU to nab the coveted spot. Stay tuned.
