The Dog Days Of February

At the end of January, a new face joined my family. Her name is Ginger. Ginger is a rescue dog from Idaho. She is a 10-year-old weiner dog who's owner passed away while in a retirement home. Ginger was left in the home and treated very badly. Once she came to our house and met our other two weiner dogs, Bosco and Webster, Ginger fit right in.

But there are few things we have noticed about the new dog. She follows me everywhere. She sleeps in my bed with me, she follows me into the bathroom, and she has to constantly be around me. My mom is usually the person that dogs love, but for some reason Ginger doesn't want her to touch her.

She also acts odd at times. She loves her bone, which first belonged to Bosco, and she loves to play. However, when she was abused in the retirement home she became very shy and is no longer potty trained. And she constantly begs for food. But she's a great dog and she will soon learn.

As many people know I put my dog, Lucky, down in October, but Ginger is not a replacement to Lucky. She just joined the family at the right time. And having Lucky for over 10 years I don't think a dog could ever replace her. She is missed dearly.
