My wife, Tamara and I have been getting in shape this summer by walking five or more miles a day on the greenbelt. It is amazing how many Boiseans take advantage of this terrific resource.
We see hundreds of walkers, joggers and bicyclists every day, no matter what the weather, or time of day. The nice thing about the greenbelt is that you can usually walk in the shade depending on the time of day that you walk. The only time it is impossible to find shade is high noon.
A couple of days ago, we walked on the South, or Boise State side of the river. There was construction going on in the outdoor amphitheatre. We were forced to walk through campus, and it was amazing. I have lived in Boise for over 40 years, but really had not walked through campus for several years. The new construction was stunning, new dorms, new buildings, additions to old buildings, things that I have missed in the past few years. Boise State has really grown up from the small college it used to be. It is now a rather impressive university. Do yourself a favor, if you haven't walked the BSU campus in the past few years, take a tour, you will be impressed. "One more floor" Bob Kustra has done a hell of a job guiding Boise State in its transition to a nice university. Just a football school, I don’t think so, and neither will you if you take a look.
