We learned this morning which Big East football teams will be coming to Bronco Stadium in 2013, Boise State's inaugural year in the conference. We'll be hosting the Memphis Tigers, the Louisville Cardinals, the Houston Cougars and the Rutgers Scarlet Knights. I find this moderately exciting, since I've never seen Rutgers, Memphis or Houston play in person before. I've seen Louisville twice, both times against the Broncos. Boise State beat Louisville in the Humanitarian Bowl several years ago, then lost to them in the Liberty Bowl in 2004.
The road games for the Broncos in the Big East will be interesting, too. Every trip will be to a major (or at least Major League) city. We'll travel to Cincinnati to play the Cincinnati Bearcats, San Diego to play the San Diego State Aztecs, Dallas to play the Southern Methodist Mustangs and Philadelphia to play the Temple Owls. I wouldn't mind going to every one of these games. I've never been to Cincinnati, Dallas or Philadelphia, and I think I'd enjoy the experiences.
Paul J. has a theory about why Louisville and Rutgers are both scheduled to come to Boise. Both teams will be leaving the Big East in 2014, and he believes the trips to Idaho will be serving as punishment. He might be right.
